VISITORSITE.NET - V SPOILERS PAGE
One major difference between modern times and the era of the original V is that information leaks and flows a lot more easily. Most of the information found on this page about the V pilot was written at a time before principal photography had even begun.
First, casting breakdowns for the new V were leaked online and can be found below. Additionally, the IO9 blog posted their own take on some casting sides that had leaked, which we have reproduced here. (Please visit here for the original source).
If this information is considered sensitive and you are a copyright holder or producer who wishes for this material to be removed, please don't hesitate to send an e-mail and the information will be removed immediately. The intention of this site is to excite people for the new project but if there are things that need to be held "close to the vest" we completely understand. However, also keep in mind that this same information has circulated around many parts of the 'Net and it may be impossible to quash the spread of information entirely.
Here are the characters and situations that we will be seeing in V: (Keep in mind that situations and characters may change)
STORY LINE: The sky is full of ships -- enormous motherships from seemingly benign, very attractive humanoid aliens who just want to trade a lot of advanced technology for a little water -- but whatever you do, don't trust them....
[ERICA EVANS] 38 years old, a single mother with one teenaged son, Erica is with the FBI's Counter-Terrorism Division, and is based in Los Angeles. Currently on the trail of a sleeper cell that has forged suspiciously accurate documents with suspiciously WASPy names, Erica finds her life interrupted when alien motherships appear over 29 major cities of the world. Assuaged when the humanoid inhabitants appears to be completely friendly, Erica shifts her focus back to her job and her troubled son and in so doing uncovers a shocking and massive conspiracy...
[FATHER JACK LOWERY] 30 years old, a Catholic priest, Father Jack is the assistant pastor at All Saints Church in Los Angeles, a parish that has seen its ranks of followers dwindle to almost nothing. On the verge of being reassigned, Father Jack sees a renaissance of faith when the Visitors arrive, as fallen-away Catholics return to church in droves, initially fearful of this brave new world. Unimpressed by the surge of hope and devotion that follows the arrival of the Visitors, Father Jack fears that his parishioners are relating to the aliens as god-substitutes...
[CHAD DECKER] 28 years old, an Anderson Cooper wannabe, he's a newscaster with BBN, based in New York City. Amoral, ambitious, and a little slippery, Chad is intent on getting to the top of his profession in a big hurry. The kind of man who sleeps with the Vice President's press secretary in order to gain entree, Chad gets the Ultimate Source when he is tapped by Anna to become her steady outlet for information (propaganda) about the Visitors. Too ambitious to realize that he's going to become an unpaid sycophant, Chad doesn't question his good luck...
[TYLER EVANS] 16 years old, the son of Erica Evans, Tyler is an uncool kid who wants to be cool -- or maybe he just wants to fit in, somewhere, anywhere. Deep in a state of teen angst, Tyler gets into trouble again and again, trying to crash parties where he is unwanted, and winding up in an ER. But when the visitors arrive, and Tyler's buddy Bryce scores some tickets to visit the Los Angeles mothership, Tyler thinks that the aliens just might fill the empty hole in his life...
[RYAN NICHOLS] 36 years old, Ryan is the boyfriend of Valerie Holt, and he's right on the verge of proposing marriage. But Ryan has a deep secret that he's kept from Valerie and from her daughter Cassie...
[ANNA] 40 years old, Anna is the leader of the Visitors, and she's not only humanoid, she has flawless looks and a gorgeous figure. A woman who presents herself as a benevolent deity, with a soft-spoken tone of voice that is warm and soothing (but with a strangely harmonic tone), Anna is the front person for the aliens, and she's remarkably knowledgeable -- about human culture, human languages, and media manipulation. Expert at wrapping pundits around her little finger, she decides that newscaster Chad Decker is the perfect careerist to carry her message of peace and prosperity to a wider world…
[VALERIE HOLT] 42 years old, Latina/African-American/Caucasian/any ethnicity to be considered. Valerie is the single mother of Cassie; she's dating Ryan Nichols, and he's on the verge of proposing to her...
[CASSIE HOLT] 17 years old, Latina/African-American/Caucasian/any ethnicity to be considered. She's the daughter of Valerie Holt; her father is either dead or out of the picture. A hard-working student, she's soon to become the stepdaughter of Ryan Nichols...
[LISA] 18 years old, one of the Visitors, Lisa is a Guide aboard the Los Angeles mothership, a flirty girl who charms Tyler and Bryce with ease, welcoming them to the ranks of the devoted followers of the Visitors...
[MARCUS] 40 years old, another Visitor, Marcus is Anna's second in command, her constant companion in public. He works together with Anna, working to propagandize the people of Earth into believing that the Visitors are peace-loving friends of all humanity...
[DALE MADDOX] 44 years old, Hispanic, Erica's partner in the FBI Counter Terrorists Division and a close friend. Like Erica, he's spent years tracking a variety of sleeper cells in the Los Angeles area. He and Erica go undercover to penetrate the anti-Visitor resistance group....
So, it seems "Anna" is the "Diana" type this time around.
Here are some details from the pilot script (Source: IO9 - please visit their site to read the entire report)
The characters are introduced and then strange earthquakes distupt everything. The earthquakes turn out to be the effects of the Visitors' spacecraft, which finally arrives. The Visitors' leader/spokesperson, the human-looking Anna, appears on big screens all over the world, and she seems to be speaking the local language wherever she's broadcast. She explains that her people thought they were the only intelligent life forms in the universe until now, and they're overjoyed to find out they're not alone. They observed Earth for a while, to make sure humans were peaceful, but now they're happy to make contact. They need some of our water (which for some reason they can't just take from Mars or Enceladus) and a common Earth mineral, and in return they'll give us some of their technology and leave us better than they found us.
Reactions to the aliens are mixed, with some humans embracing them wholeheartedly and others being suspicious. The aliens generate a sort of cult of followers, including teenagers who tag the "V" sign everywhere and shout "Visitors rule!". Other people become paranoid and start forming underground resistance networks. The pilot ends with the motherships landing all over the world, with a pulsing dance beat, as one human warns that the aliens now have the most powerful weapon in the world: people's devotion.
IO9 was also able to get a pretty good sense of some of the characters' story arcs:
Chad, described as an "Anderson Cooper wannabe," interviews Alison, an aide to the Vice President and then sleeps with her afterwards. She tells him he did well, and he can expect to get an interview with the VP soon. Later, he goes aboard the alien mothership to interview the aliens' mouthpiece, Anna. With one minute before the interview goes live, Anna insists that Chad must only ask her questions that put the aliens in a positive light. Chad tries to protest that he'll be fair and balanced, but she insists he must be "more than fair." Chad caves, and later, Alison writes him an email asking whose morals he had to corrupt to get such a great gig. The interview's a huge success, and Anna decides Chad will be her mouthpiece whenever she has an announcement.
Father Jack, a Catholic priest, gives a sermon warning people not to trust the aliens, and the church tells him to cut it out. "We are all God's creatures," the Vatican says. "Rattlesnakes are God's creatures too," Jack remarks. "People need to hear that the visitors are part of God's plan," says another priest, Father Travis. And then a formerly wheelchair bound guy turns up, having been miraculously healed by the Visitors. But a visitor to Jack's confession booth tells him to keep up the anti-alien sermonizing, because people are going to need to wake up to the alien threat. All of a sudden, Jack's normally empty church is full of fearful people. Jack winds up helping to organize the anti-alien resistance, and visits a secret meeting where a doctor injects them with anesthetic at the base of their scalp, and then tests them to make sure they're really humans. Jack says he's a coward, but then later he gives a huge speech about how we need to stand up and fight.
Erica, an FBI agent in the counter-terrorism group, has a son named Tyler who's in the area where the aliens show up. Erica tries to use her FBI badge to get into the area the marines have cordoned off to find Tyler, but winds up having to sneak in. Tyler is a teenage dork, who is obsessed with being cool but knows he's not really cool — he buys a cool bike, but as soon as he gets on it, it's not cool any more. He goes to a cool party, but is the least cool person there. Seriously, Tyler constantly talks about his failed attempts at coolness. Tyler becomes a huge fan of the Visitors, and starts tagging people's cars and spreading pro-alien tagging instructions online. Erica starts investigating the anti-Visitor movements as possible terrorist cells, and then she attends an anti-Visitor meeting, along with Father Jack. When Erica and Jack leave the meeting, they get attacked by thugs. Erica attacks one of them, but it turns out to be her FBI partner Dale. She thinks it's just a big mistake, but he keeps trying to kill her. She injures him, and the wound reveals gray reptilian skin... her partner is a "fucking Visitor!" Most of the people from the meeting wind up dead.
Ryan is buying an engagement ring for his girlfriend Valerie when the earthquakes start. He's trying to decide whether to do the "going down on one knee" thing. But then later, Ryan attends the anti-Visitor meeting and helps the resitance to fight off the pro-Visitor thugs and undercover Visitors. Ryan himself turns out to be a Visitor, but he insists he's a traitor to his own kind and he wants to help fight them. Later, Valerie finds the ring and tells Ryan she loves him, but there's a lot of crying, maybe because Valerie found out Ryan is really a scaly alien.
And some more spoilers in what is likely a VisitorSite.net exclusive...
Georgie is 28 years old and seems to be organizing a resistance group. So far, he's recruited "about 25 people." He approaches Ryan for information about the Los Angeles cell, though Ryan refuses to get involved, not wanting to put his fiancee and her daughter in danger. Apparently Georgie's organizing "again" which implies he's done this before, and the last time resulted in people being killed. Ultimately, he is assisted by Ryan who is revealed to be a Visitor himself.
Tyler is Erica's son and she finds evidence that he and his friend Bryce have been spreading the word about the Visitors, tagging "V"s everywhere, including a car on a YouTube video that she has found. He has bought in to the Visitors' message and explains that he's "spreading hope." Later, Bryce and Tyler land "tickets" to see inside the Visitor mothership.
Other Spoilers: Visitors disguise their appearance by "cloning human flesh over their own reptilian bodies." The resistance is putting each other to a test to ensure that they are not hidden "Visitors." The character of Erica initially thinks they're conspiracy theorist nut jobs.
A sequence in the pilot (unless it is cut or changed) will go back and forth between Georgie explaining the truth of the Visitors' presence intercut with Anna telling her fabricated lies about what the Visitors are doing here.
Our opinion? If the show is as well cast as it is scripted, this could be a great television series...
Apparently there may be some changes in the description for Anna. This was the latest we were given. Note the change of age for the actress...
[ANNA] 28-32; Stunningly beautiful. Strong. Charismatic. Duplicitous. Leader of the Visitors, an
alien race, who has come to Earth seeking friendship with humanity -- or are they?
Some new updates (3/13/09): The friend of Tyler's who was earlier known as Bryce is now called Brandon. Brandon is enthralled by the Visitors and seems to have better luck getting "in" with them than Tyler is.
Mrs. Belker is a neighbor of Cassie Holt who at least initially is skeptical of the Visitors. She is blind. She points out that the V's seem to be the saviors that you call out to who actually answer back.
